The Green SIG is back in 2010!

If you want to:
Ÿ Take a lead role in implementing sustainability in your organisation
Ÿ Find out about the environmental resources and networks available to help you
Ÿ And network with your peers to learn about the steps they are taking in sustainability
… then the Green SIG is for you.
In 2009, Green SIG members: met at VCOSS headquarters to hear about the impacts of climate change and why this is a social justice issue; toured CERES Environmental Park and saw engaging environmental progams in action; visited the 6 star-rated office of Sustainability Victoria to see how it can be done; learnt about the “sustainability on a shoe string” approach at Hanover Welfare Services; and shared insights into climate change and our hopes for the future with Professor John Wiseman at our Green Leaders Dinner.
The Green SIG is a great place to meet with fellow members who want to make a difference for people with disability AND for the environment. We are all at different stages of our green journey, and enjoy sharing our experiences, resources and ideas to support each other in leading change for the environment within our own organisations.
Our Green SIG sessions are carefully planned to include a presentation by a leading speaker who can inspire, motivate and provide practical strategies and resources; as well as time for networking and sharing green ideas and experiences by members.
And yes, after a short break, the Green SIG is back with three inspiring and information-packed sessions planned for the rest of 2010.
Keep the following dates free:
Ÿ Tues 27 July: guest speaker Mark Boulet, Manager of the Green Steps education programs at Monash Sustainability Institute shares his insights into leading change in sustainability and explains how the Green Steps @ Work course and the Green Steps Intern program can work for you; and a member presentation on the SustainAbility Stars program at EW Tipping Foundation
Ÿ Tues 14 September: Green Leaders’ Dinner at the Rendezvous Hotel, Flinders St Melbourne – stay tuned for details
Ÿ Wed 27 October: field trip to St John of God Accord, Greensborough to learn about and see their inspiring program in action, lead by Disability Emerging Leader of the Year Rachel Bishop
It’s not always that easy being green, but the DPV Green SIG makes sure that you don’t have to do it on your own.
Come join us on 27 July at 2.30pm and take your first green step! See invitation and agenda attached.
